The town of Cedar Lake is located about 126 miles northwest of downtown Indianapolis, Indiana and about 13 miles south of Hammond, Indiana. The population of Cedar Lake in 2024 is approximately 17,226 people.
The town was, at one time, a popular resort area for those living in Chicago as a means to get away from the urban setting. There were over 50 hotels and several ballrooms for bands to entertain the visitors. The Cedar Lake is one of the largest natural lakes in northwest Indiana.

The countryside offers picturesque drives through rolling landscapes, while the forested areas draw campers from all over the Midwest.
