Richmond is located about 68 miles east of downtown Indianapolis. The eastern edge of Richmond is situated on the Indiana/Ohio state line. The population of Richmond in 2010 was 36, 812 people.

Richmond is the home of Earlham College as well as the Tiernan Center, the 5th-largest high school gym in the United States.

Famous trumpeter and singer Louis Armstrong was first recorded in Richmond at the Gennett recording studio as a member of King Oliver and his Creole Jazz Band. Also, Hoagy Carmichael recorded “Stardust” for the first time at Gennett. If one enjoys the past, the city is a treasure trove of early American architecture. The Richmond KOA is located adjacent to U.S. Interstate 70, but nestled deep in a country setting, away from the noise of the interstate travel.

We had the fortune of staying at this KOA while visiting Richmond for a Sunday wedding in the Richmond Rose Garden, located within the beautiful and historic expanses of Glen Miller Park.

We reserved the upgraded RV site with a concrete patio and wooden dual-seat swing. The adjacent surface of crushed gravel was quite smooth,
with no need for leveling our RV.

The patio was large enough for several guests and we enjoyed it early in the morning to late in the evening. A perfect setting for relaxation.

We found the hosts (Keith and Bonnie Diesing) and the staff to be quite friendly and accommodating. Firewood is delivered to your site promptly and they will be glad to brew a pot of coffee at any time. Hey, the coffee was only 50 cents and it was hot and fresh!

This is an Indiana campground we would recommend to anyone, and we intend to go back several times.
