Kokomo is located about 45 miles north of downtown Indianapolis, and about 40 miles east of Lafayette. The population of Kokomo in 2010 was 45,468 people. With a successful 2012 annexation of nearby communities, the population increased to almost 57,700 people.
Kokomo became known as the “City of Firsts” due to a significant number of technical and engineering innovations, particularly in the automotive industry.
