Greenfield is located about 20 miles east of downtown Indianapolis, along the historic old National Road (U.S. Route 40), and about 10 miles west of Knightstown. The northern border of Greenfield is adjacent to U.S. Interstate 70. The population of Greenfield in 2010 was 20, 602 people.
One of his most popular poems was “The Old Swimmin’ Hole”, and that “swimmin hole” is located along Brandywine Creek in Riley Park.
