Fort Wayne is located about 103 miles northeast of downtown Indianapolis, and about 35 miles south of Angola. The population of Fort Wayne in 2016 was 264,448 people.
The city is named after an American Revolutionary War statesman named Anthony Wayne. A fort was erected in the area to protect settlers to that region and was named Fort Wayne.
Fort Wayne is the 2nd largest city in Indiana and is in the midst of re-development and continuous financial investment. The city boasts of having one of America’s premier Children’s zoos and draws over a half million people each year.
