Elkhart is located about 130 miles northeast of downtown Indianapolis, and about 15 miles east of South Bend. The population of Elkhart in 2010 was 50, 949 people.
The area of this city was once heavily populated by the Ottawa, Chippewa, and Potawatomi Indian tribes.
For many years, this city has been known as the “RV Capital of the World” and the “Band Instrument Capital of the World.”
